Building with Our Home Team, the Orioles!

Habitat Chesapeake is teaming up with the Orioles to help build several homes in Southwest Baltimore!

On two weekends in July, staff members and players from the Baltimore Orioles came out to the site of 3 future homes in Pigtown, Baltimore to lend a hand. Between painting walls and installing siding, this team made its mark through some of the season’s hottest weather.

Habitat Chesapeake has a long history in this Southwest Baltimore neighborhood, where partners like the Orioles are helping to construct 3 new homes across the street from 2 homes currently being rehabilitated.

These new homes are less than a mile from Camden Yards and a short walk to the Inner Harbor and Pigtown’s local main street on Washington Boulevard. Pigtown Main Street hosts an array of small and locally-owned businesses and features family-friendly events throughout the year.

Habitat Chesapeake was also honored to tour our build site on Ward Street with Baltimore City Councilwoman Phylicia Porter of district 10! Councilwoman Porter joined Habitat Chesapeake CEO Mike Posko, Director of Marketing Britt Hayes, Events and Marketing Manager Leslie Clarke and Community Liaison Nikki Fowlkes to view our progress while we worked with staff from the Baltimore Orioles.
