Corporate Matching Gifts

A matching gift is a charitable donation by your company or organization that matches your donation to Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, most often dollar for dollar, and therefore providing the opportunity to increase each dollar you donate to Habitat Chesapeake. Thousands of companies across the United States offer matching gift programs to their employees as part of a corporate giving philanthropy. This means millions of individuals are eligible to participate in a matching gift program. In addition, 65% of Fortune 500 companies offer a matching gift program and some companies even double, triple, or quadruple donations!

The main concept of matching gift programs is quite simple. A $100 donation to your organization is eligible to be matched by a corporate employer, literally doubling the donation for a total of $200.

Some companies will make a “matching gift” for the hours you volunteer.

Matching Gift Options
It’s simple – just follow the steps below.

1. Confirm that your employer participates in a matching gift program.
2. If your company is not participating, speak with your company’s HR department or contact Paul Erbes.
3. Make your donation to Habitat Chesapeake online or by mail.
4. Complete the Employee Matching Gifts Program form from your employer’s designated office, or follow the online instructions they may provide. You may need the following:
   • Employer Identification Number (EIN) (Federal Tax Identification Number) 52-1226188
   • Organization Name: Habitat for Humanity OF THE CHESAPEAKE ( please insure you include “Chesapeake” to insure your donation helps those in Central Maryland)
   • Organization Address: 3741 Commerce Drive, Suite 309, Baltimore, MD 21227
   • E-mail Address – perbes@habitatchesapeake.org 
   • Web Address – www.HabitatChesapeake.org
   • Organization Type: Civic, Health and Human Services, Shelter
5. Once you notify your employer of your donation, they will contact us for donation verification. We will then complete the process and your employer will distribute the matching gift to Habitat Chesapeake.
6. You may also email the form provided by your employer to perbes@habitatchesapeake.org or mail the form to Matching Gift, 3741 Commerce Drive, Suite 309, Baltimore, MD 21227 to complete this process.

Please note that, depending upon the company, this process may take up to several months to complete.

Stock & Securities

Securities or stocks held more than one year, and that have increased in value, make extremely effective gifts. Each gift of this nature serves a dual purpose: it furthers the mission of Habitat Chesapeake while offering you financial and tax benefits.

How to Donate

We have invested in a secure stock donation tool to make it easier than ever to donate your stock directly to Habitat Chesapeake. It only takes a few minutes to use, and will auto-complete your paperwork for you.

IRA Giving

If you are over 70.5, giving directly from your IRA allows you reduce your taxable income. For those over 72, an IRA gift is an easy way to meet your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), while supporting Habitat Chesapeake’s mission to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Whether it’s an employer-matched donation, a seasonal contribution or a campaign-related gift, the United Way of Central Maryland offers donors various ways to contribute to Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake (#3275). International Programs

Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake focuses on local efforts to build houses and hope in Central Maryland, but also acts globally by assisting in efforts of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). Habitat Chesapeake has supported global efforts in Haiti, Argentina, and several other countries since 1981. Habitat Chesapeake has provided special support for the work of Habitat for Humanity International in Haiti.
