Habitat homebuyers don’t need perfect credit or large savings, they need determination, stability, and a desire to create lasting change for themselves and their families.

  • 4. Completing at least 250 hours of sweat equity;
  • 5. Being good ambassadors for Habitat in the community so this important work can continue.

Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake and our ReStores use its best efforts to respect and protect the privacy of our online users, donors and visitors. Data Collection

You may browse Habitat Chesapeake’s web site without submitting personal information. However, if you choose to make a donation, send us an e-mail, register to volunteer or request a newsletter we will ask you for applicable information.

When you make a donation online, you will be asked to provide personally identifiable information necessary to process and service your request. This may include your name, billing and shipping postal addresses, telephone number, e-mail address and credit card number. Your credit card information will be temporarily stored on a secured server only for as long as necessary to process your payment.

When you send Habitat Chesapeake an e-mail, your message and e-mail address will be forwarded to the appropriate department within the organization and we may save your e-mail as part of our permanent records. Please be aware that any message, material, ideas, concepts, or other information sent to Habitat Chesapeake by e-mail will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary.

When you sign up for a volunteer activity or request a newsletter by sending an e-mail or other means, we will request personal information in order to contact you.

Contact and Donor Information

Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake will not share or sell a donors personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake will only share or sell personal information once the donor has given our organization specific permission to do so.

Use of Information

Internal Use: We will use your personally identifiable information in order to respond to your request or process your contribution. Your credit card information will be temporarily stored on a secured server only for as long as necessary to process your payment. We may use your information to inform you of events, send you Habitat Chesapeake and ReStore newsletters, request donations and send you promotions and updates about the stores.

External Use/Third Party Vendors

Habitat Chesapeake may engage third-party vendors in order to help us better service our visitors and customers. Vendors are required by contract to maintain the confidentiality and security of information to which they are provided access and restricts the vendors from using the information in any way not expressly authorized by Habitat Chesapeake.

We recognize that you may wish to limit the ways in which we contact you and use your information. Habitat Chesapeake offers the following options:

Security

Habitat Chesapeake receives your personal and credit card information using secure socket layering (SSL) technology which prevents disclosure of your information to third parties. SSL is the standard for most browsers and servers and encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name and address so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the internet.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Habitat Chesapeake staff members are educated on the importance of safeguarding your information and are bound by a confidentiality agreement.
