Neighborhoods Where We Build

New and Rehab Construction

Since our founding in 1982, Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake (Habitat Chesapeake) has been dedicated to building homeownership affordability across Baltimore City and the surrounding Anne Arundel, Baltimore, and Howard counties. We select our project locations, balancing affordability with desirability for homebuyers and long-term growth potential.

Habitat Chesapeake brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Homeownership has been proven to transform lives—improving health, increasing children’s chances of academic success, and offering an opportunity to build wealth across generations. Likewise, homeownership enhances neighborhoods by bringing tangible investment, residents who are engaged for the long-term, rising property values, and a sense of community.

In our homebuilding, we offer both rehabs and new construction. By maintaining a mix of this different housing stock, we maintain a mix of options, housing stock that fits the neighborhood, and emphasize both energy efficiency and revitalization in our work.

The Dream of Vibrant Communities

At Habitat Chesapeake, we are often working at the invitation of stakeholders in an individual neighborhood or region. Communities across Central Maryland boast multiple assets, whether it is parks, access to transit, or proximity to strong anchor institutions, and the additional homeownership that we provide becomes a part of the strength of the neighborhood. In addition to assets, there are needs in communities, and we support our community residents and other stakeholders in efforts to address needs and highlight assets.
