Lend a Hand Behind the Scenes at a Habitat Restore
Whether you enjoy interacting with customers or prefer working behind the scenes, there’s a role for you at our ReStores! Volunteers are the heart of our operation—turning donated goods into vital funding for Habitat Chesapeake’s mission to build affordable homes for local families.
With just a small team of paid staff at each store, we rely on our volunteers to keep things running smoothly. Every hour you give helps us maximize the impact of every donation and keep our costs low—so more resources go directly toward building homes.
What Restore Volunteers Do
Each day, new donations arrive at our five ReStore locations. Volunteers help us accept, prepare, and display these items so they’re ready for shoppers. You’ll also help keep our warehouse and showroom floors clean, safe, and well-organized, all while providing friendly customer service.
Daily Volunteer Tasks May Include:
- Accepting and processing donations
- Pricing items and staging inventory
- Organizing warehouse and sales floor
- Assisting customers with questions and purchases
- Keeping the store clean, safe, and welcoming


Volunteer Roles
We have opportunities for:
- Customer Service – greeting shoppers and answering questions
- Warehousing – moving, organizing, and storing items
- Merchandise & Pricing – tagging and preparing goods for sale
- Donation Processing – inspecting and sorting incoming items
No experience? No problem, we’ll train you!
Great for Individuals & Groups
ReStore volunteering is perfect for:
- Students (14+, with chaperone if under 16)
- Individuals earning service hours
- Corporate, school, or faith-based groups
- Those who prefer non-construction roles
