Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake (HFHC) is igniting a powerful movement in Baltimore, bringing young leaders together through the revitalized Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) program. Thanks to Brandon Jerome, HFHC’s Volunteer Engagement Manager, this dynamic initiative is already making waves in the community, empowering young individuals to take charge and create lasting change.
This program goes beyond volunteer work—it’s about building a network of like-minded individuals committed to personal growth, community engagement and giving back. It’s a chance to forge lasting relationships, develop new skills and collaborate with others who share the same vision for a better future for all.
Since its relaunch last fall, HYP has made tremendous strides, welcoming 10 new members to the program, with eight already stepping into leadership roles—and there is ample room for expansion. Together, the group is fostering an environment that inspires and uplifts its members while leaving a lasting impact on Central Maryland. So far, they’ve volunteered at HFHC’s ReStores and construction sites and planned several social events to deepen their connections and strengthen their collective impact. Currently, HYP leadership is working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HFHC to ensure even closer collaboration on upcoming projects.
Each new member brings fresh energy and determination to the group, and HFHC is excited to support these young leaders as they take charge and drive positive change in their community. As this program grows, the potential for transformation is limitless. The future of HYP is bright and the community will continue to benefit from the empowerment, leadership and collaboration of the next generation of change-makers.
If you’re between the ages of 21 and 40 and are passionate about shaping your community’s future, HYP is the perfect opportunity to step into leadership and make a difference.
