Beyond the Build: Johns Hopkins Hosts Habitat Seminar

Last month, the Johns Hopkins campus chapter of Habitat Young Professionals hosted the first-ever “Beyond the Build” seminar event, which aims to highlight critical housing issues informed by the intersection of race, wealth, history, and socioeconomics. This spring’s seminar highlighted a local author and journalist, Lawrence Lanahan, and his work, “The Lines Between Us.”

Last month, Habitat Chesapeake staff, volunteers, AmeriCorps and HabiCorps members came together in the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood to clean up a lot located next to a Habitat home. The lot also sits alongside the Glenwood Life Recovery Garden, a plot where patients from the Glenwood Life program can grow flowers and vegetables for therapeutic benefits.
