Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake is proud to engage volunteers of all ages in building brighter futures. Whether you’re just getting started on your volunteer journey or looking to combine service with school or extracurricular activities, there are meaningful ways for youth to support our mission, from volunteering to creative fundraising projects.
We welcome youth volunteers at both our construction sites and ReStores! Age requirements are in place to ensure a safe and rewarding experience for everyone.
ReStore Volunteers
Ages 16+: May volunteer independently
Ages 14–15: May volunteer with a chaperone
Construction Volunteers
- Ages 16–17: May volunteer with a chaperone (no power tools)
- Ages 18+: May volunteer independently and use power tools
Note: All chaperones must be at least 21 years old.
Building a Better Future Starts Young
Opportunities for Kids & Teens
For Ages 6–12
With adult guidance or supervision
- Bake Sale: Sell baked goods at school, church, or a community center.
- Pancake Breakfast: Host a ticketed breakfast at your school or place of worship.
- Snack Bags for Volunteers: Decorate and fill bags with snacks and thank-you notes for our construction crew.
- Candy Grams: Sell holiday or seasonal candy-grams with uplifting messages.
- Lollipop Sales: A classic fundraiser—just $0.25 per treat can go a long way!
- Dog Wash: Partner with a local park or pet store to host a dog wash fundraiser.
For Ages 13–15
Fun, impactful projects for middle schoolers and early high school students
Car Wash: Set up a weekend car wash and add a lemonade stand for extra donations!
Make the Grade: Collect pledges for every “A” and “B” earned on your report card.
Create a Cookbook: Collect family recipes and artwork to sell a digital or printed cookbook.
Class Change Challenge: Compete to collect the most coins for a cause!
Welcome Home Baskets: Assemble gift baskets with household items for our new homeowners.
Art for a Cause: Turn student art into notecards, mugs, or t-shirts to sell and donate profits.
Art Auction at the ReStore: Donate framed student artwork to be auctioned as home décor.
Krispy Kreme Fundraiser: Contact your local store to organize a doughnut sale.

Yes! We offer service-learning opportunities that meet school requirements. Whether you need hours for class, clubs, or community service projects, we’re happy to work with students, parents, and educators to create a meaningful experience.
